Jessica created a presentation for the MTEA conference focusing on a new style of musical theatre history course designed for non-majors. In this course, students explore the shows, personalities, and performance components of musical theatre through the lens of the TV show Crazy Ex-Girlfriend in order to more clearly understand the impact of culture, politics, and society on Broadway and vice versa. This presentation explains the structure of the course and how data has proven it to be an effective (and fun) way to teach MT History for a new generation.
